DoNER Secy notes work progress

Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) undertook a four-day visit to Manipur from September 2 to 5 and reviewed the progress of development projects and schemes being implemented under MDoNER/NEC in the State.
According to a statement issued by the Planning Department, the Secretary, MDoNER arrived on September 2 and during his stay, he called on Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister Y Khem-chand, and held discussions with the Chief Secretary on the State's development priorities.
A high-level review meeting was also held at the Main Conference Hall, Civil Secretariat, Mantripukhri, chaired by the Secretary, MDoNER, with senior officers of the departments concerned.
The meeting reviewed the progress of projects under MDoNER/NEC, the Oil Palm Mission, initiatives on Industry 4.0 in the manufacturing sector and strengthening of logistics in the North Eastern Region (covering Forest, Health, Transport, Commerce & Industries, and Handloom & Textiles), investment initiatives, the High-Level Task Force sectors (Agriculture, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Fishery, Transport, Commerce & Industries, Handloom, Tourism, Youth Affairs & Sports, and Veterinary & Animal Husbandry), and the USP Manipur Polo initiative, it added.
The meeting reaffirmed the Government of India's continued commitment to accelerating infrastructure creation and socio-economic development in Manipur, the statement said.
During the visit, Srinivas inspected several ongoing infrastructure projects funded under MDoNER schemes, including NESIDS, across Imphal East, Imphal West and Bishnupur districts.
The projects inspected were development of infrastructure of the processing zone of Manipur IT SEZ, Mantripukhri, Imphal (cost Rs 120 crore); infrastructure development in and around the Polo Ground at Ibudhou Marjing, Heingang, Imphal East (cost Rs 30.40 crore); upgradation of road from NH-202 at Lamlai to Thoubal Dam covering 18.50 km (cost Rs 48.87 crore); construction of Hill (Tribal) Chief Guest House at Palace Compound, Imphal East (cost Rs 6.50 crore) and improvement of road from Bishnupur Chingdong to Khuman via Prengba village, Loukoipat, Bishnupur viz NESIDS Roads, 6.38 km (cost Rs 11.01 crore) .
The Secretary also visited Loktak Lake, where he inspected the proposed Tourist Circuit being developed by the Loktak Development Authority, terming the site a potential world-class ecotourism destination.
He visited Keibul Lamjao National Park, Shree Govindajee Temple, and the Japanese Language Training Centre, Manipur University.
He also visited Manipur Start-up Founder "Ahenba Products" at Wangkhei, Imphal East, and witnessed a Thang-ta performance at JNMDA, Khuyathong.
On September 4 the Secretary travelled to Tengnoupal District for a field visit of project sites, before returning to Imphal.
He departed for New Delhi today.
The visit of the Secretary, MDoNER underscores the sustained focus of the Government of India on accelerating infrastructure development, connectivity, tourism and socio-economic growth in Manipur, the statement said.
