Aid extended to displaced folks

In the wake of turmoil in Jiribam, relief efforts continue to pour in with assistance today coming from the neighbouring state of Tripura.
A team led by Khoisnam Ongbi Birala Devi, secretary, Takhel Leima Tengbang Lup, Agartala provided toys for kids, essential consumable items, drinking water, kids diapers and blankets for the elderly to inmates at Bidyanagar Multi Sports Complex Indoor Hall, Jiribam Higher Secondary School and Chingdong Leikai Upper Primary School relief centres.
Speaking in this connection, Khoisnam Ongbi Birala Devi said that women from Puthiba Welfare Society, Emoinu SSG, Panthoibi SSG and other Meetei women from Tripura got together to extend aid to the displaced folks.
Nongmaithem Sobita Devi, a displaced woman who fled from Lamtai Khunou to Bidyanagar Relief Camp expressed gratitude towards the womens' team from Tripura for their help.
Additionally, she shared that they were shifted from their homes on June 7.She conveyed that she had doubts in her mind at the time.
Shortly after their arrival here, their houses were set on fire, she added.
She expressed regret that if the people had not been shifted from Lamtai Khunou, but instead given adequate security measures, then the unfortunate incidents that subsequently followed might have been avoided.
Lastly, she appealed for the displaced people to be resettled in their original homes.
