Imphal, March 04:
Justifying the killing of the three KCP (MC) cadres, KYKL, PREPAK and UNLF in a lengthy statement explained why they had to interfere in the internal affairs of the KCP.
Pointing out that whenever factional fights or stand off between two armed outfits ensue, the suffering of the people multiplies, the joint statement said that the past is the proof.
Detailing, the three outfits said that factionalism means exposing the lives of the public to danger, more taxes.
Forget about factionalism, the people have even raised the voice on the need for all the revolutionary outfits to unite under a single umbrella.
Moreover factionalism means a set back to the revolutionary movement, which is nothing but giving the advantage to the common enemy, maintained the statement and added that such a situation can lull the revolutionaries to complacency.
The joint statement then went on to say that when factionalism plagues an outfit, it is difficult for the two opposing sides to come to an understanding and this is precisely the reason why other outfits had to step in to bring a compromise.
Citing an example, the statement said that killings between the UNLF and KYKL came to a stop from 2001 after PREPAK made its best efforts to bring the two sides to an understanding.
Such an understanding proved to be a big boon to the people, said the three statement and acknowledged that without the sweat and efforts of PREPAK, it may not have come about.
In 2005 the factionalism bug hit PREPAK, recalled the three outfits and added that due to the efforts of the KYKL and UNLF the internal differences were ironed out and on January 4, 2006, it was announced that the two factions had patched things up.
From these two incidents, KYKL, PREPAK and UNLF learnt a very valuable lesson, said the statement.
The very fact that if any other outfit helps to create an atmosphere of understanding without any strings attached, then the differences can always be worked out is a revolutionary 'lesson that we have learnt,' added the statement.
It was under this belief that KYKL, PREPAK and UNLF decided to put in their best effort to unite the then six factions of the KCP some years back.
The six factions in existence were then KK Mangang faction, Laba faction, Lamphel faction, KK Nganba faction, City Meitei faction and Kokkai faction.
