Village warns to sever ties with AR

Patna, September 03, 2010: Village Authority of H Phaikoh Village has strongly condemned the alleged atrocities meted out to its Secretary Thangjahao Touthang by Maj MK Kainan of 12 Assam Rifles post at Nampisha.

A press release issued by Chief of Phaikoh village said that the Major summoned Thangjahao and beat him up black and blue on the mere suspicion of having nexus with a UG group on September 2. The press release alleged that Thangjahao was subjected to third degree torture including hanging him upside down, dipping into water and flogging etc.

The village Secretary was later released with bruises all over his body and asked to walk on foot for 8 km to reach his village.

Saying that the village has been extending cooperation to security forces, the press release said fumed that the Village Authority would sever all ties with the security force if the said Major is not transferred from the post or tender apology to the victim and the Village Authority.

The VA also called on all CVOs and NGOs to extend cooperation in fighting for justice.
