Ukhrul, May 03 2025: Shirui village is all set to erect a 40 feet tall concrete monument at the Kashong peak atop Shirui mountain to commemorate recognition of Shirui Lily by the Royal Horticultural Society London, England.

Rock Shangh, coconvener of Shirui Lily Festival Local Organising Committee (SLFLOC), said that the Shirui Lily Festival this year will mark 75 years of the recognition.

Shirui Lily (Timrawon in Tangkhul dialect) was recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society, London with a prestigious merit award at its Flower Show in London in 1948.Rock said the villagers of Shirui have contributed money for construction of the memorial monument "in order to keep alive our vibrant culture and our village treasure Shirui Lily" the rare and unique flower that only flourishes on the Kashong peak of Ukhrul district.

The villagers of Shirui are preparing for the celebration.

They have started clearing wild bushes, levelling the celebration venue Vangayan.

The approach road to the venue is being blacktopped, Rock said.

Meanwhile, chairman of Miss Shirui Lily Organising Committee, AC Raising said that all necessary preparations for Miss Lily Contest is in progress.

Auditions for the contestants will be held in two places--Imphal on May 10 at Hotel Phouoibi conference and in Ukhrul on May 12 at Forest Guest House at Duncan park.

Individuals from Churachandpur and Kangpokpi district may register for online auditions from May 12.Grooming for the selected individuals will start from May 17 at Ukhrul.

The beauty pageant contest will be held on May 23 at Vangayan Shirui village.

Raising further mentioned that three guest judges-Friendship International chairman.

Miss International chairman and Mr Rubaru India will attend the Miss Shirui Lily contest at Shirui village, Ukhrul.

Rock band Orphaned Land (Tel Aviv), Israel will perform during the festival at Bakshi ground, Dungrei Hungpung.

Multiple bands including Inner Sanctum (Bangalore), Arogya (Assam), Magdalene (Mizoram), Divine Connection (Nagaland), Ginger feet (Kolkata), High Volt (Manipur), Bombay Viking (Mumbai), Zyphertone (Pune), Borkung Hrengkhawl (Tripura), Yelhoumi (Manipur) will enthrall the musical fest from May 20 to May 24 .
