Imphal, August 02 2026: A seven-point resolution, including a proposal urging all regional political parties in Manipur to form a united regional alliance to counter the influence of National parties in the upcoming elections, was adopted at the Manipur Youth Assembly 2026, organised by Manipur Miyamgi Eehou (MAMEE) today.

Held under the theme "Manipur First", the youth assembly took place at the Senate Hall of the Department of Earth Sciences, Manipur University, Canchipur.

The programme witnessed the participation of a large number of youths, research scholars and members of the public.

Call to form united regional alliance sounded

Speaking at the programme, MAMEE convenor Oinam Premdash said the prevailing situation in Manipur demands the younger generation to actively participate in politics.

He said the youth assembly was organised to create a common platform for young people to deliberate on the challenges facing the State and collectively identify possible solutions.

Following extensive deliberations, the participants adopted seven resolutions aimed at addressing Manipur's current political and social issues.

The assembly resolved to appeal to all regional political parties, including MPP, NPF, DPF and PDA, to come together under a common regional alliance and emerge as a united political force in the forthcoming elections.

Expressing concern over rising unemployment among educated youths, the participants observed that recruitment to Government departments has been irregular and inadequate.

They resolved to urge the Government to ensure timely and transparent appointment to Government posts.

The assembly also called on the Government to clearly spell out its plans for the rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) before the next elections.

Noting that movement along the National Highways has remained disrupted since May 3, 2023, the participants urged the authorities to work out a permanent solution that would allow people to travel freely and safely on the highways without fear.

The participants further resolved to urge the Government to work sincerely towards restoring unity among all communities in Manipur.

The programme was attended by MAMEE adviser Khaidem Mani.

Deliberations were also held on different issues during the programme.
