NE NSS Festival kicks off at MU

The North East NSS Festival 2025 commenced today at Manipur University marked by a grand cultural procession, featuring NSS volunteers and Programme Officers from various North Eastern states, including Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Meghalaya, and Manipur.
The festival was hosted by the NSS Cell, Manipur University under the aegis of Regional Directorate of NSS Guwahati, Assam & Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the theme "Inspiring Youth for Peace, Unity and Development Through Service".
The festival will conclude on June 6.Dressed in their respective traditional attire, each State contingent showcased their unique cultural identity, celebrating the rich diversity of the region.
The cultural parade was received with a salute by the chief guest Professor N Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, along with other dignitaries.
The inaugural proceedings included the flag hoisting ceremony, symbolizing the unity and commitment of the NSS.
Professor N Lokendra Singh hoisted the Manipur University flag, while Naorem Praveen Singh, Secretary, Education-S/YAS hoisted the NSS flag, marking the formal beginning of the festival.
A souvenir commemorating the North East NSS Festival 2025 was also released on the occasion.
Former NSS Programme Coordinators, NSS Cell, MU, Professor Ch Ibohal Singh, Professor A Rajmani Singha, Professor Keisham Shitaljit Singh, and Professor M Nodiyachand Singh were also honoured during the inaugural function in recognition of their valuable contributions and dedicated service.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor N Lokendra Singh emphasized the pivotal role of NSS in nurturing empathy, discipline, and teamwork -qualities essential to realizing the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.Expressing his deep honour on being a part of the North East NSS Festival 2025, he concluded by encouraging the volunteers to make this festival a catalyst for lifelong learning, leadership, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
Other notable dignitaries present at the inaugural function include Dr L Santosh Singh, Programme Coordinator of the NSS Cell, MU and Nakul Chandra Deori, Youth Officer, Regional Office (NER), Guwahati.
The inaugural program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr T Deepamanjuri Devi, Programme Officer, NSS Unit II, MU .
