Welfare scheme benefits to reach all eligible people without discrimination: K Meghachandra

Thoubal, August 01 2026: Wangkhem AC MLA and CLP leader Keisham Meghachandra has assured that the benefits provided by the Government under various welfare schemes will be made available to all eligible beneficiaries in the constituency without any discrimination.

He made the statement while distributing Manipur Government's Old Age Pension Cards to senior citizens aged above 60 years at a programme organised by the Wangkhem Block Congress Committee (WBCC) at his residence at Yairipok Bishnunaha today.

The programme was attended by WBCC president Kiramat Alli, Wangkhem Mahila Block Congress Committee president Konsam Kunjamani Devi, WBCC working president Sorokkhaibam Kunjeshor Singh, Wangkhem Youth Congress Committee president Moirangthem Robinson Singh, senior advocate and Congress leader N Bhupendra Meitei, former MPCC general secretary Md Wahiduf Rahaman, Yairipok Municipal Council caretaker chairperson Konjengbam Ito Singh, councillors and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Meghachandra said Old Age Pension Cards were distributed to 253 senior citizens today, while the process for providing the cards to another 117 beneficiaries was almost complete.

He said the initiative would not end with the present distribution and assured that efforts would continue to ensure that all eligible senior citizens receive the benefit.

The MLA also said the process for extending other State Government welfare benefits, including widow pension, Nongthangleima and Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT), to eligible beneficiaries was also nearing completion.

He said that although the financial assistance provided under such schemes may not be substantial, the initiatives are important in bringing a sense of joy and confidence among people by demonstrating that the Government is undertaking people-centric programmes.

Appealing to those who were not included in the present list not to feel disappointed, Meghachandra said their exclusion could be due to incomplete documentation or because their applications were still in the queue.

He assured that efforts would continue to cover the remaining eligible beneficiaries.

As an elected representative, he said, his responsibility was to serve all people irrespective of whether they had voted for him or not, and assured that Government welfare benefits meant for eligible people would be provided without disparity.

He further appealed to the public to visit the ONE HOME office and obtain information about various welfare schemes being introduced from time to time.

He urged eligible beneficiaries to submit the required documents and work collectively to ensure that they receive the benefits meant for them.
