Imphal/Senapati/Ukhrul/Tamenglong, August 30 2024:
In the backdrop of the Kuki-Zo community's scheduled rally on August 31, 2024, the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) and the Rongmei Naga People's Organisation have categorically stated that no form of rally, dharna or any agitation will be permitted within their jurisdictions.
A notice issued by the TKS today also asked the KSO-Ukhrul, KSO-Kamjong and Kuki Women Union-Ukhrul and Kuki Women Union-Kamjong under Kuki Inpi Manipur to immediately withdraw their proposed rally within their (TKS) jurisdiction.
The TKS will not be held responsible for any untoward incidents resulting from non-compliance, it added.
The Rongmei Naga People's Organisation (RNPO) has also announced that it will not allow the Kuki-Zo community to hold any rally, dharna or any other form of agitation in Tamenglong district and Noney district.
The RNPO has directed its volunteers to make sure that the Kuki-Zo community does not hold any rally or dharna in Noney district and Tamenglong district.
RNPO president Sebastian Kamei said that the Kuki-Zo people should pay heed to this concern to avoid any unwanted situation.
The SDSA too has issued a stern warning against holding any rally or dharna within its jurisdiction.
The SDSA made an announcement to this effect today following the Kuki Students Organization Sadar Hills' plan to organize a rally on August 31 from Keithelmanbi Military Colo-ny to Kangpokpi headquarters.
In a statement, the SDSA expressed disappointment over the announcement of the rally by certain student organizations and their parent body, Kuki Inpi Manipur, despite the SDSA's recent inter-sports meet held under the motto "Run for Peace in Manipur" .
The SDSA, which maintains neutrality in the ongoing crisis in Manipur, considers the planned rally unfortunate and warns that any organization attempting to operate within the SDSA's jurisdiction will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The SDSA further cautioned that any untoward incident resulting from the proposed agitation would be at the organizers' own risk.
The student body also appealed to the Naga public to remain calm and cooperate with the SDSA as it stands firm in its decision to uphold and safeguard the interests of all people.
It is worth mentioning that the Kuki Students' Organisation-Sadar Hills, along with its federating student bodies, including the Thadou Students Association, Sadar Hills (TSA-SH), Gangte Students Organisation, Sadar Hills (GSO-SH), and Zillai (Vaiphei Students Assn), have unanimously resolved to support the Nationwide rally.
