Imphal, September 29: Barely 17 hours after she was released by the State Government as per a verdict of the High Court, Irom Sharmila Chanu has been �picked up� by the police and admitted at JN Hospital where the health condition of the hunger striker is being monitored.

Even as the Imphal East district SP Chandramani Singh affirmed that Sharmila is not under arrest but her health is being taken care of, the 32 year old woman is in a state of confusion on her status at the hospital.

The SP also warned that legal action might be initiated in case Sharmila crosses prescribed legal limits like attempt to commit suicide.

Sharmila stated that she was picked up last midnight by a police team without specifying the reason and is unable to perceive whether she is under police custody or not.

Two women constable deputed to look after the hunger striker also could not elaborate on the status of Sharmila saying, "We were only ordered to supervise her here," the plain clothed lady cops said.

It may be recalled that principal Seat of the High court delivering the release verdict had maintained that it is prerogative of the state authorities to decide on whether or not to take care of Sharmila�s health and nutritional requirements.

After her release from the security ward of the Hospital yesterday morning Sharmila continued fasting initially at Nupilan Memorial complex before being shifted to her Kongpal Kongkham Leikai residence where is was also reported that she refused food.

Taking into account the rapid deterioration of her health condition a police team arrived today and shifted her back to JN Hospital at around midnight and was admitted at the female Ward of the Hospital before being finally transferred to the private ward where dextrose is administered.

Meanwhile, the State Government has filed a review petition on the judgement of the High Court directing for release of Sharmila.

The petition filed before the Principal Seat of the Gauhati High Court has been listed for hearing within the next few days, according to informed source.

State authorities had yesterday intimated the matter for filing the review petition to Manipur unit lawyer of Human rights Law network advocate Rakesh Meihoubam which has been subsequently conveyed to the New Delhi unit of HRLN, added the source.
