Imphal, August 29 2024:
The All Manipur VDF Welfare Employees' Association (AMVDFWA) has taken strong exception to the Awang Leikinthabi incident where arms and ammunition were snatched from their colleagues posted at Awang Leikinthabi on August 27 .
Snatching arms from them was an invitation for war among blood brothers, said AMVDFWA in a statement while appealing to the miscreants to return the arms and ammunition.
The VDF personnel were posted at Awang Leikinthabi under Sekmai police station to protect the lives and people of the area, the VDF association said.
Saying that the miscreants were able to snatch the arms and ammunition from their colleagues as the personnel posted at the place were too few, the VDF association condemned the incident in the strongest term.
AMVDFWA said that VDF personnel, despite getting insufficient salary, are posted at different places including the remote areas to protect the lives and properties of the people.
The case could have been otherwise had the incident taken place in a battlefront, the VDF association maintained and added that they take the matter very seriously.
Stop creating problem for the VDF personnel, it said while appealing to the miscreants to return the snatched arms and ammunition to avoid animosity among the fellow Manipuris.
The VDF personnel from whom the arms and ammunition are also Manipuris, AMVDFWA maintained and appealed to all civil society organisations and the people to lend a hand in recovering the arms and ammunition.
