15th Manipur Integrity and Solidarity Day observed

The 15th Manipur Integrity & Solidarity Day was observed by Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) and National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) at Lamyanba Shanglen, Konung Mamang today.
The programme was graced by Ph Shakhi Leima, president, AMKIL, M Medun Maring, president, NIPCO, Rose Mangshi Haokip, Retd Lecturer, GP Women's College, R Chandra Haomei, vice-president, Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Nagaland, Manipur), L Khupler Kom, president, Indigenous Minorities Organisation Manipur (IMOM), Angam Zatung, general secretary, Hill People Literary Union, Manipur and Sunil Karam, vice-president, United Committee, Manipur as presidium members.
Rishikanta Yumnam, convenor, said that the observation was first initiated when the Central Government and NSCN(IM) decided to resolve the Indo-Naga issue through peaceful talks.
A large number of people of Manipur irrespective of caste and creed have been observing the day with the objective to spread the message of peaceful co-existence and to uphold the State's territorial integrity.
Till now, issue of territorial integrity is yet to be resolved.
The peace accord signed between the Central Government and NSCN-IM has raised the question of whether the State's territory will be affected or not.
The most recent issue is the demand for separate administration by the Kuki community after the three Bills were passed by the State Legislative Assembly which they termed as "anti-tribal".Two communities joining hands against other communities of the State is not a peaceful and harmonized step, he added.
He also urged all the people of the State to live in peace and work together to bring sustainable development in the State.
