Imphal, September 26: The Irabot Celebration Committee would be organizing the State level observance function of the 108th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot at Mapal Kangjeibung on September 30.Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh would be chief guest and CPI general secretary AB Bardhan would be special guest of the function to be attended by a host of Ministers and party leaders.

The observance function would commence with a procession taken out from Irabot Bhavan carrying the life size photograph of Jananeta Hijam Irabot accompanied by the band party of Manipur Rifles and volunteers of the party clad in red dresses till Mapal Kangjeibung.

The life size photo- graph would be placed at the saluting bench in front of the VIP gallery.

After which Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, comrade AB Bardhan, comrade M Ibohal and comrade B Sharma would lead the people in offering floral tributes to the pioneering leader.

After paying the floral tributes, the artistes of APTA would render the song Houro Awaba Ahinggee Amamba Koktuna, written and composed by Hijam Irabot himself.

After this a march past parade would be taken out.

All the contingents, including cultural troupes and band parties would come out from Johnstone School campus and proceed till the venue of the observance where they would salute to the photograph of the leader to be placed at the saluting bench.

After the talks to be given by the invitees on the life and work of Jananeta Hijam Irabot, Chief Minister would distribute prizes to winners of patriotic song and march past competition organized as part of the observance.

At night, torches and candles would be lit at the memorial sites of Irabot, offices of CPI, voluntary organizations, local clubs as well as along every streets and by-lane.

The Celebration Committee had also organized a function today at Pishum Oinam Leikai, the birth place of Irabot, where people offer floral tributes to the statue of Irabot on the occasion of its death anniversary.

Similar functions have also been organized at other places associated with Irabot.

The Irabot Memorial Charitable Trust would be observing the 108th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot on September 30 at Pishum Thong Oinam Leikai.

Minister of Art and Culture Ph Parijat Singh and Keishamthong A/C MLA L Ibomcha Singh would attend the function as chief guest and president respectively.

Dean of Central Agricultural University N Iboton Singh and social worker S Ibochou Singh would grace the occasion as guests of honour.

Meanwhile, Students� Federation of India, Manipur State Committee today distributed prizes to the winners of the 3rd State level Patriotic song competition during a function organized in connection with the 53rd death anniversary of Hijam Irabot at MDU hall, Imphal.

The Patriotic Song Competition was held yesterday at GM Hall, Imphal.

Maurice Okram, Khundongbam Singh and Sougaijam Iraileima won first, second and third position respectively in the competition.

AISF, Moirang Zonal Council also organized a Zonal level recitation and monologue competition at Moirang Little Birds� School yesterday in connection with its 108th birth anniversary observance function of Jananeta Hijam Irabot.

H Rojibala Devi, Y Roshni Devi and L Chanchanbi Devi secured first, second and third position respectively in the recitation competition for junior category.

M Bandana Devi, K Meneka Devi and Ph Kaper Singh won first, second and third positions respectively in the sub-junior category of the same competition.

While in the monologue competition, H Roshni Devi, K Sayarani Devi and H Lilibala Devi won first, second and third positions respectively.

Social Reformers� Club, Khurai Nandeibam/Puthi-ba Leikai conducted a social service camp to clean up the road and drainage stretch along Imphal-Pukhao Road as well as the bank of Imphal River in connection with Irabot Day observance today.
