Kangpokpi, June 25 2025:
Kuki-Zo people took out a rally at Kangpokpi district headquarters today against the arrest of Kuki-Zo individuals by National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) .
The rally was organized under the aegis of the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) amid a complete district-wide shutdown in Kangpokpi.
The participants of the rally marched to the Deputy Commissioner's office raising slogans condemning what they termed as "arbitrary and targeted arrests" of Kuki-Zo individuals.
To reinforce the protest, a total shutdown was imposed from 9 am to 1 pm across the district.

Later, leaders of CoTU, along with representatives of various civil society organizations, submitted a joint memorandum addressed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah through the Deputy Commissioner.
The memorandum endorsed by CoTU, Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA), Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills, Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) and Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Sadar Hills, and CoTU Women Wing claimed that the Government disproportionately targets members of the Kuki-Zo community.
In their memorandum, the Kuki-Zo organisations urged the Union Government to stop 'arbitrary' arrest of village volunteers until a fair and inclusive mechanism is in place and ensure impartial investigations that address violations by all sides involved in the conflict.
It also urged the Government to launch confidence-building measures by engaging communities through a neutral platform, initiate a meaningful dialogue with full recognition of the conflict's ethnic, historical, and territorial context and protect the dignity and safety of village volunteers.
