Bishnupur Police Commandos have arrested five active workers of PREPAK and KYKL during a search operation conducted along with women constables of Bishnupur at Ningthoukhong Bazar today.
According to a statement issued by SP of Bishnupur Jayanta, the arrested active workers have been identified as RK Mema Devi alias Dhaneshori (44) w/o Polem Doren Singh of Thangmeiband Polem Leikai, Kongbrailatpam Usharani Devi (43) w/o Ibotombi Sharma of Phubala Awang Leikai, Chabungbam Ibemcha Devi (48) w/o Ch Dhananjoy Singh of Phubala IB Road, Phairembam Randhoni Devi (34) w/o Ph Jugeshor Singh of Moirang Phairembam Leikai, all of PREPAK cadres and Moirangthem Sangita Devi alias Ibemcha (28) w/o M Shanta Singh of Ningthoukhong Mayai Leikai.
During preliminary investigation, it is revealed that the first four are actively involved in extortion and collection of money on behalf of PREPAK from Jeep Owners' Association, Moirang; Pradhans and Panchayat members of Bishnupur and Thinungei under the command of one Wahengbam Nanao Singh (25) s/o W Chaonba Singh of Toubul Makha Leikai and Kangjam Major Singh alias Biren alias Thoicha (S/S captain of PREPAK) s/o K Ibohal Singh of Uripok Achom Leikai for PREPAK organisation while the fifth is actively involved in extortion and collection of money on behalf of KYKL from NHPC employees, Auto-rickshaw Association of Bishnupur, DI Tata and Tata Sumo Association of Ningthoukhong-Leimatak and Autorickshaw Association of Oinam under the command of one G Inaocha Devi of Bishnupur Ward No.9 for KYKL organisation, the SP said, adding that two cases have been registered at Bishnupur Police Station for further investigation.
On the other hand, based on specific information regarding presence of PULF cadres in general area of Yairipok-Bishnunaha, troops of 34 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) established mobile check post and apprehended one PULF (MI Khan) cadre on June 23 .
Identifying the arrestee as assistant finance in-charge Md Ramaluddin (33) s/o late Md Abdul Hamid of Singa Tampak Mayum, PRO Assam Rifles informed that the arrested individual was handed over to Yairipok Police Station on June 23 itself.
The PRO further informed that based on specific information about movement of UGs with arms across the International border to Imphal valley, troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) established mobile check post on tract Moreh-Sheyang on June 24.During checking of a Maruti van registration no.AS01-8703, an individual was detained while trying to evade checking.
On search of the individual, one 9 mm pistol, five live rounds of 9 mm, 40 live rounds of 7.62 mm and 2 live lethode bombs were recovered from the individual later identified as Lamboi Zou (26) of Moreh ward no.5 Moreh.
The apprehendee alongwith recovered items have been handed over to Imphal West Police Station, the PRO added.
Meanwhile, a team of Imphal East Police Commandos have reportedly arrested three KCP (Lalheiba Group) cadres identified as Soiraisam Bakimchandra alias Kaka (35) s/o late S Tomba of Pangei Bazar but staying at Ishika Makha Leikai, Yanglem Inao (37) s/o Y Bhudha of Ishikha Mayai Leikai and Sanasam Nando alias Tomba (27) s/o S Basanta of Pangei Houtal Mayai Leikai from Lamlong at around 10.30 am today.
According to a statement issued by SP of Imphal East District Th Radheshyam Singh, on verification, Soiraisam Bakimchandra alias Kaka disclosed that he joined KCP through one Prem of Pangei and Yanglem Inao and Sanasam Nando alias Tomba disclosed that they joined KCP through Tomba of KCP.
One 9 mm pistol, one magazine and 4 live rounds were recovered from the possession of Bakimchandra, the SP said.
