Two killed as car plunges into Loktak

Imphal, October 24 2024: At least two persons were killed at Moirang today as the car (Maruti Swift) they were travelling in plunged into Loktak Lake.

The accident took place at around 8.30 pm.

It is reported that the car had four occupants of which two died.

The deceased have been identified as Akoijam Premchand (26), s/o A Priyo of Tronglaobi Makha Leikai and Irengbam Bisheshwor (22), s/o Late Imocha of Tronglaobi Makha Leikai.

Premchand was the driver.

The two survivors, on the other hand, have been identified as Kongjengbam Bipin Singh (26), s/o K Chandra of Tronglaobi Makha Leikai and Hemam Haridas (24), s/o Khomdon of Moirang Okshobung Makha Leikai.

People nearby have rushed them to the nearest hospital.

Four of them went to Sendra to have tea after meeting some of their friends at Nambol.

The car fell into the Lake while taking a U-turn near the Boat House at Sendra.
