Imphal, June 23 2025:
Aggrieved by how BJP Central leaders have been dealing with the Manipur crisis over the past two years, Councillor of Kakching Khunou Municipal Council Angom Bimolchand has left the party.
Disappointed with the BJP Central leaders' failure to bring a solution to the Manipur crisis, the Councillor left the saffron party.
Speaking to media persons at his Kakching Khunou residence today, Angom Bimolchand pointed out that hundreds of innocent people have been killed in the course of the sustained aggression being waged by Kuki narcoterrorists since May 3, 2023.Thousands of people, displaced from their homes, are still living in relief camps.
Each family with all their members are being lodged in tiny rooms and they are being forced to endure the sweltering heat in utterly crammed conditions, he said.
After all their houses and properties were burnt down by Kuki narco-terrorists, a large number of people have been literally scratching for a living, he observed.
So far BJP Central leaders have not taken up a single concrete step sincerely to bring an end to the sustained aggression being carried out by heavily armed Kuki narco-terrorists, Bimolchand said.
The BJP Central leadership has been befooling the masses by making incoherent claims over the causes of the violent crisis.
They were saying that there were foreign hands in the Manipur crisis.
On the next day, they said Kuki narco-terrorists started the conflict but again, they would say that the conflict is a communal clash, he remarked.
He then recalled that Union Home Minister Amit Shah promised to put in all efforts to bring an end to the violence within 15 days when he visited the State during the initial days of the violent aggression.
Starting from Amit Shah himself, the current BJP leadership do not see the people of Manipur as equal humans.
He also pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi never bothered to pay a visit to Manipur even though the State has been literally burning for more than two years.
Elected representatives as well as CSOs have repeatedly sought an audience with the Prime Minister to talk about the Manipur crisis but he never gave them an appointment even once, Bimolchand said.
"To express my disappointment and resentment against such callous attitude of the BJP Central leadership, I have decided to quit BJP from today", he said.
He also called upon all BJP members to stop prioritizing or giving more importance to the party (BJP) over the motherland.
