IPFM dismisses charge against Ashang Kasar

Imphal, May 23 2025: Strongly condemning the false and malicious complaint lodged by Sangaikot Sub-Division Defence Committee (SSDDC) against its president Ashang Kasar, the Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur (IPFM) clarified that he (Ashang) never made any provocative statement as alleged by SSDDC.

According to a statement of IPFM, Ashang Kasar has always stood for peace, mutual respect and truth.

He continues to play a constructive role in advocating for indigenous rights, democratic values and social harmony.

The forum urged the government of Manipur and the government of India to thoroughly investigate the false charges and take action against those attempting to incite division through deceitful means.

Regarding the social media post which SSDDC alleged to have uploaded by Ashang Kasar, the IPFM clarified that the account named Kasar Ashang (@Ashang_Kasar) on X (formerly Twitter) is fake and Ashang Kasar does not operate the account.

"The said account was created with the sole purpose of tarnishing Ashang Kasar's image, spreading communal hatred and disturbing peace," it said.
