Landslide blocks NH-37

Movement of trucks and tankers on NH-37 (Imphal-Jiri highway) with CRPF escorts has been suspended following a heavy landslide at Kotlen on Thursday.
Notably, transportation of essential items including fuel resumed only on Monday after a gap of several days.
Usually, trucks and tankers move in convoys of 100 vehicles and they are escorted by CRPF.
Due to strong protests seen at Jiribam following the abduction and subsequent cold blooded and barbaric murder of three infants and three women by Kuki-Zo-Hmar terrorists, movement of trucks and tankers was suspended.
The movement of convoys resumed on Monday.
The convoy which left Imphal on Monday included three oil tankers and three LPG bullet tankers.
On Tuesday, a convoy of 26 trucks and five oil tankers left Imphal.
On Wednesday, 50 trucks which would bring food items and 50 oil tankers left Imphal with CRPF escorts.
But the movement of convoys of trucks and oil tankers was suspended on Thursday following a heavy landslide at Kotlen.
On the other hand, 20 loaded LPG bullet tanks, IOCL's 15 loaded oil tankers and BPCL's 14 loaded oil tankers reached Imphal between Monday and Wednesday.
Many loaded trucks including oil tankers and LPG bullet tanks heading to Imphal are stranded at Noney, Barak ad Shanti Khunou, sources said.
