NIT Manipur observes World Food Day

Imphal, October 22 2025: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur and Government Middle School Pfutseromi jointly observed the World Food Day 2025.The World Food Day, under the theme "Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future," was organised at the Government Middle School Pfutseromi.

The programme was conducted as part of NIT Manipur's project "Mainstreaming Agrobio-diversity Conservation for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods", said the institution in a statement.

The "Mainstreaming Agrobiodiversity Conservation for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods" project is sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, through the GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment under the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS), said the NIT Manipur.

The event emphasised on the promotion of awareness on sustainable food systems, local crop diversity, and kitchen gardening as key strategies for ensuring food security and enhancing livelihoods, it said.
