Farmers' training programme begins at CoA, Iroisemba

Imphal, August 22 2024:
A 6-Day Farmers' Training Programme on "Pulses as smart crops for agricultural sustainability and nutritional security" under Promotion of Pulses for NEH Region (NEH Programme) began today at College of Agriculture (CoA), Iroisemba, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal.
The programme conducted under the All India Coordinated Research Project on Rabi Pulses was funded by ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur.
The inaugural function was graced by Prof Indira Sarangthem, Dean, CoA, Iroisemba; Prof L Nabachandra Singh and Prof N Brajendra Singh as presidium members.

At the event, Prof Indira Sarangthem highlighted the importance of pulses in improving the livelihood of the farmers within the state.
The training programme aimed at empowering the farmers with in-depth knowledge about the cultivation practices, benefits and market opportunities associated with pulses alongside, focusing on the holistic role played by pulses as a crucial part of sustainable agriculture and thereby, contributing to the nutritional security of the rural communities.
31 farmers from different parts of the State will be attending the 6-days long training programme on production and protection technologies associated with different pulses cultivated in the State.
