Families of Leithao massacre victims appeal for aid

Families of the 13 Meeteis who achieved martyrdom at Leithao on December 4, 2023 have sought support from the masses to complete the memorial being constructed at Torongthel, Andro in their honour.
Notably, these 13 Meeteis were laid to rest together at Torongthel.
Leithao village falls under Machi police station.
Addressing a press briefing at Torongthel today, convenor of Thirteen Victims' Families Committee Laishram Ningthou said that the 13 Meeteis were killed after they were held captive by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
He said that the massa- cre of the 13 people deeply hurt every Manipuri and their last rites were attended by thousands of people.
Saying that they started constructing the memorial of these 13 bravehearts at their resting site with the money donated by the people, Ningthou added that they called the press briefing to seek support from the people as completing the memorial would require more money.
He said that they decided to construct the memorial so as to let the people always bear in mind the atrocity of the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
Saying that they would also construct a memorial park, a community hall and a library at the same site, Ningthou requested the people to assist them in com- pleting the project.
