Imphal, June 20: Claiming responsibility for shooting at the leg of PWD Building Division Executive Engineer Beishmayum Kunjakeshwor of Wangkhei Angom Leikai, the proscribed PREPAK accused the EE of arrogance and deliberately challenging the revolutionary movement.

A statement issued by the outfit's secretary in-charge of the department of publicity and propaganda Konthoujam Chingkhei Meitei clarified that the outfit approached the EE repeatedly for some help towards the liberation movement from the works of the Department but Kunjakeshwor not only refused any help but also acted with contempt and disregard towards the party cadres.

Asserting that the yesterday's incident was the first warning, the outfit maintained that it would keep a strict vigil over the EE until and unless he mend his faults and give in himself to the party.

Chingkhei further warned Kunjakeshwor to make a public clarification to the party of all the misdeeds he committed.

Reacting to the outcry of Works Minister K Ranjit against the assault, the outfit accused the Minister of amassing personal wealth by instigating his subordinate engineers in corrupt activities.

The outfit further alleged that there were several irregularities while allotting contract works of Departments which do not have its engineering cell through Departments which have their own engineering cells.

It also warned all concerned to refrain from such irregularities.

On the other hand, clarifying that PREPAK has no connection with the yesterday morning's incident of shooting on the leg of Executive Engineer of PWD Building Division-II Beishmayum Kunjakeshor (58) of Wangkhei Angom Leikai as well as with the reported abduction of AK Nabachandra of Singjamei Chingamakha, an employee of Electricity Department, secretary in-charge of department of publicity and propaganda of proscribed outfit Aheiba Angom has expressed serious concern over the rising trend of killing and abduction for ransom of people in the name of revolutionary movement.

In a statement, Aheiba also noted that there has been no let up to staging of Wakat Meephams by people at different places in protest against such activities.

So general public should be cautious and stay away from such unscrupulous elements.

In case, any of the cadres were found involved in the two incidents without the knowledge of the party, then befitting actions would be taken up against them, Aheiba declared, while seeking the co-operation of the people in finding out the truth and awarding befitting punishment.
