Lamka, March 20 2009:
The Special investigation Team (SIT) of manipuri Students' Federation questioned existence of the Ch Iboyaima High School, Singjamei Thong Wangma contending that among others the current teacher-pupil ratio do not commensurate with acceptable norms of being an educational institution.
Interacting with mediapersons at its head office today, SIT convener L Rojit revealed of the said school having only four students in the current academic session with the teaching strength outnumbering the pupil at 28. The SIT was formed as a part of the student body's initiative to bring about quality education in the State under its Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamshi'.
Inspite of existence as a Government-run educational institution, Ch Iboyaima High School today is in shamble with regard to administration as the school at present has no headmaster after the previous incumbent retired in February, 2009 and there is no replacement to take charge, the student activist maintained.
He further revealed that out of the 28 teachers posted at the school attendance of six, as per record, is very rare with some among the absentees not reporting for duty even for a single day this month (March).
Further laying bare administrative inefficiency, Rojit informed that inspite of vocational course subject not entertained in the school a teacher for the said subject is available in the school.
Drawing attention of the State authorities to rectify lapses and address inadequacies of the school, the convener identified the absent teachers as S Bimola Devi, Ksh Manaobi, Th Priyobarta and S Promila - all Arts graduate; and L Ibohal and O Manaoton - Science graduate teachers.
While conveying to the six to report to the manipuri Students' Federation office within three days, he also affirmed that authority concerned would be urged to initiate appropriate punitive measures.
Rojit also announced MSF's plan to closely monitor whether SSA and mid-day meal schemes are being implemented in a proper manner.
