The Governor Dr SS sidhu and Chief Minister O ibobi Singh have conveyed their warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Good Friday tomorrow and arrival of the festival of colour - Holi celebrated as yaoshang in Manipur.
The Governor's Good Friday message reminds that "Good Friday exemplifies the supreme and selfless sacrifice made by Lord Jesus for strengthening the bond of friendship, brotherhood and universal love amongst mankind.
"Born to recreate a new world order based on truth, compassion, love, peace, fraternity and equality of mankind, He enlightened our path to eternal values through patience, tolerance and forgiveness," added the Governor.
further stressing that resurrection of Lord Jesus symbolises the decisive victory of 'good over evil', Dr Sidhu pointed that His (Jesus) message of peace, love, harmony, friendship and brotherhood is increasingly relevant at the present juncture when the atmosphere is marred with hatred and enmity between man and man, society and society, and nation and nation.
In his Yaoshang greeting the Governor stressed that with the festival celebrated in spring that marks igniting of new spirit of life and colourful abundance, Holi provides an opportunity to all to forget differences and strife for spreading the message of love, friendship and broherhood.
In extending his heartiest greetings to the people of manipur, Dr Sidhu also prayed for progress and prosperity of manipur and its people.
Expressing elation in sending his Good Friday wishes the Chief Minister said "Good Friday reminds us of the supreme sacrifice of the Lord jesus Christ for mankind as the celebration of day and resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday symbolizes the victory of good over evil, love over hatred and kindness over cruelty".
Calling upon the people to rededicate 'overselves' to the noble ideas of love, peace and forgiveness, and strengthen the bonds of friendship, brotherhood and unity amongst the people, O Ibobi wished that Good Friday and Easter Sunday will bring peace and happiness to the people.
Acknowledging that Yaoshang is one of the biggest festivals of Manipur and an occasion of joy and reconciliation, the CM mentioned that the festival offers an opportunity for all to set aside differences and to come and rejoice together.
The spirit of love, harmony and friendship is what is emphasised by Yaoshang, he maintained referring to relevance of the festival at the current juncture when the need is for promoting peace and prosperity in Manipur.
Meanwhile, GOC 3 Corps Lt Gen MS Dadwal and GOC HQs 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen TS Handa extended their warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Yaoshang (Holi).
The day becomes auspicious this year as it coincides with Good Friday and Milld-un-nabi, thus urging all to forget/forgive all bitterness and usher together in an era of peace and prosperity with renewed vigour, a release by PIB (DW) conveyed the officials' message.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal, Manipur also joined in greeting the people of Manipur on the occasion of Yaoshang.
