Imphal, May 19 2026:
In a show of compassion and solidarity, women from Mao distributed relief items today to drivers and transporters stranded along the Tadubi to Khujuma stretch of the Imphal-Dimapur road.
These transporters have been stranded since May 13, following a blockade imposed by Kuki groups along the highway, and the subsequent developments stemming from the killing of three Thadou church leaders in Kangpokpi and the abduction of civilians.
The relief items such as rice, potato, onion, dal, edible oil, water etc were distributed by members of the Mao Women Business Union, Imphal (MWBUI), to over 200 stranded transporters.

Speaking to the media, Kapeini Pfoze, president of the MWBUI, said they decided to help the drivers and transporters because they are the ones who bring essential supplies to Manipur by navigating difficult routes.
"As mothers, we feel it is our duty to support them during this difficult time," she said, praising the role of the transporters.
She urged the Government to provide all possible assistance to the stranded drivers and transporters and to take measures to resolve the crisis plaguing Manipur.
