Imphal, July 18 2009: A man who is presumed to have been killed in a road related accident was found alive in a drug de-addiction centre on the day of his Asthi Sanchay today.

Thirty-eight year old Loukham Arun s/o Birachandra of Keishampat Kangabam Leikai is a drug addict and he was presumed to be the one who succumbed to the injuries at JN Hospital from among the two persons who were found lying unconscious after they met with an accident on their NV scooter at Lilong Chajing along National Highway 39 on the night of July 9 at around 7.20 .

On July 13, along with identifying the deceased to be Arun, his family members had even claimed the body after postmortem examination at RIMS and performed the last rites accordingly.

However, on the day of Asthi Sanchay today, one of the friends of Arun identified as RK Tiken who is an active member of SASO informed the bereaved family members that Arun is still alive and undergoing treatment at Shelter, a drug de-addiction centre run by Christian Missionary at Chingmeirong.

Talking to mediapersons in this connection, Tarun, an elder brother of Arun, informed that he had gone along with Tiken to confirm the news and found his younger brother is indeed alive.

It is said that Arun got married in 1994 but was separated from his wife in 2004-05 .

The couple do not have any child.

In connection with claiming the supposed body of Arun from RIMS mortuary, Tarun informed that the whereabouts of his younger brother had not been known for quite sometime before the report of the accident.

So they went to the mortuary of RIMS and claimed the body as it bore resemblance to that of Arun.

The news about Arun still being alive has been reported to the Singjamei Police Station where a case was taken up.

The identity of the person whose body had been cremated believing to that of Arun is yet to be established.

But the other person who sustained injuries in the accident and has been identified as Wahengbam Itocha (35) of Arapti Mamang Leikai is still undergoing treatment at JN Hospital.
