Imphal, January 18 2020: Chief Minister N Biren has stated that maximum efforts are being invested to complete development works on Imphal-Jiribam highway including construction of Barak and Makru bridges before the onset of rainy season.

Talking to media persons after a reception programme held at the office of BJP Manipur Pradesh here today, Biren informed that construction of pillars/columns for both Barak and Makru bridges is almost complete.

Components of both the bridges are being assembled at Shilliguri.

The State Government has talked with NHIDCL engineers to install the assembled components by May before the arrival of rainy season, Biren said while appealing to all the people to bear the inconveniences till the bridges are completed.

Informing that due tender process has been completed for construction of Irang Bridge anew at the estimated cost of Rs 43 crore, the Chief Minister claimed that Imphal-Jiribam highway would remain operational throughout the year once the new Irang Bridge is constructed.

Talking about the railway project, Biren said that the construction of tunnels would reach Keimai by April.

Construction of the longest tunnel on Tupul-Imphal section has been completed by 50 per cent.

The railway track would reach Imphal by 2022, Biren said.

Informing that fresh tender has been held for completion of the Civil Secretariat, Chingmeirong after cancelling the work order allotted to Simplex Project Limited, Biren informed that new tender has been held for construction of market complex at the erstwhile Tombisana High School campus even though the same project was delayed due to some pending cases.

The State Government has set a target of completing the two projects within the current year ahead of the next State Assembly election, added the Chief Minister.
