Left parties extend solidarity to Gaza

Imphal, June 17 2025: The Left parties in Manipur observed "National Day of Solidarity with Gaza" at Irawat Bhawan today.

The programme held to show solidarity with Palestinians, was organized by the State units of the CPI, CPI-Marxist, All India Forward Bloc, and Revolutionary Socialist Party.

At the function, senior Left leader Dr M Nara stated that the current global situation is alarming and critical, with various countries engaged in advanced warfare, citing the Ukraine-Russia war, the Palestine-Israel conflict, and the Iran-Israel clash as examples.

He claimed that Israel has killed over 55,000 Palestinians, including women and children, in the last 20 months.

The world could face an unprecedented crisis if the war continues, he cautioned.

Regarding the crisis in Manipur, Dr Nara asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has neither addressed the issue concretely nor visited the State, as if Manipur is not a part of India.

He appealed to the Prime Minister to visit Manipur and pave a path to restore normalcy.

The Government of India, however, is unwilling to discuss the Manipur crisis in Parliament, let alone take steps to resolve it, the Left leader said.

Ksh Santa, secretary of the CPI-M Manipur State Council, said that there is increasing hostility among countries in today's world.

Saying that India maintained good relations with Palestine during Jawaharlal Nehru's tenure as Prime Minister, he added that the current Government, however, appears to be closer to Israel.

He asserted that the Left parties stand in solidarity with Palestine, accusing Israel of using excessive force against Palestinians.

All Manipur Nupi Marup leader S Sorojini also attended the programme.
