Imphal, November 16 2025:
Under strict security measures, members of both the communities in conflict have started moving, and people of Churachandpur have started to board flights at Imphal Airport, MLA Khemchand claimed today.
The MLA was speaking at a felicitation programme held at his residence at Yumnam Leikai when he made the claim.
While his claim couldn't be verified, the MLA said there still is trust deficit among the communities and as a result they are afraid to travel without the protection of the security forces.
He said Manipur has seen many conflicts in the past and all of them were resolved by building trust and the people including the civil society organisations working together to bridge gaps and bring about resolutions to the issues.
The crisis now must be resolved by building trust and the people as a whole working together to foster peace, he added.
Commenting on the NDA's success in the Bihar polls, he said the Congress should stop falsely accusing the BJP of vote theft whenever it fails in elections.
He said the BJP did not accuse the Congress of vote theft when its candidate MP Bimol was elected.
There was public anger against the BJP for the conflict and as a result, the Congress' candidate had won the people's favour.
There was the Govt led by the BJP when the conflict broke out.
The public anger therefore is understandable, he said.
During the event, the MLA feted Henson Irom who had won the Mister Planet World 2025 at Peru.
Henson Irom hails from Singjamei Chinga Makha.
