PM lays EMRS's foundation stones

Pherzawl/Kangpokpi, November 15 2025:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stones for Ekalavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in Lawibual village, Pherzawl district and Songpekjang village, Kangpokpi district through virtual mode.
The schools are among 35 EMRS's spread across the country for which foundation stones were laid today as a part of the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The virtual event was attended by Pherzawl Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching and other district officials, who joined the National observance through a live telecast at the conference hall of the DC Office.
A similar programme was also organised at the school site in Lawibual village.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated 42 EMRS's across the country.
The EMRS in Pherzawl is expected to provide quality education to tribal students in the district.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebration.
Public screening of the Prime Minister's address also held at Adi Sewa Kendra centres across the district.
The foundation stone for EMRS, Songpekjang was unveiled simultaneously at the project site by the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi, Mahesh Chaudhari.
The virtual ceremony led by the Prime Minister, was held in the presence of senior dignitaries including Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Union Minister of Culture & Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Jual Oram, Union MoS of Tribal Affairs Durgadas Uikey and MP (Outer Manipur) Alfred K Arthur.
A public event organised by the District Administration, Kangpokpi at the school site saw the participation of local leaders, villagers, Government officials, school Principals and students.
