13 CSOs seek action for hostility

Imphal, November 14 2024: A coalition of 13 organisations has urged the Government of India to incapacitate the Kuki militants so as to stop the State from plunging into more despair.

The 13 organisations are PANDM, IPSA, ACOAM-Lup, IPAK, KSA, ERDO, KANGLA MEI, KIL, CLK, SWA, LOYALUP, MIKAL and AKSHIL.

The organisations, in a joint statement, said that the Kuki militants have been exploiting the harvest season by attacking Meetei farmers working in the open fields.

It also said that the frequent attacks on transporters along the National Highways is another serious problem.

Saying that the onslaught of Kuki militants must be faced in an appropriate manner, the organisations added that the Agriculture Minister must take responsibility for the attack on farmers.

The organisations said that they also condemn the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who preaches "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" on the abduction of three women and three children by Kuki militants in the strongest terms.

The proxy war being launched against the Meeteis allegedly by the Central force with the assistance of Kuki militants should be stopped immediately, the organisations said.

The Central Government needs to understand that the foreign militants pose a serious threat to the internal security of India, it said while appealing to one and all to stop scheming to disintegrate Manipur.

Saying that political leaders have no right to live in Manipur if they cannot protect the State, the organisations claimed that the State Government has proven its inefficiency by not taking any legal action against the 10 Kuki MLAs who publicly demand disintegration of Manipur.

It also asked why the Centre is not taking any action against the Kuki MLAs.

Continuing that Kuki militants have intensified their violent campaign against the Meeteis since the last few days, the organisations urged the Government to rescue the three women and three children who have been taken captive by Kuki militants.

It said that one Tangkhul man who was working in a paddy field also sustained bullet injuries in an attack by Kuki militants at Lamlai Sanasabi.

Accusing the Centre and its security forces of turning a blind eye to different forms of war crime committed by Kuki militants, the organisations urged the Government to stop the hostility of Kuki militants under SoO (Suspension of Operation) pact and illegal immigrant terrorists from Myanmar.

Withdraw the Central forces who cannot protect the lives and properties of the people, it demanded.

It is not the time for the Meetei MLAs to secure their seats of power, the organisations continued and added that it would be better for them (the Meetei MLAs) to resign if they couldn't even present a clear picture of what has been happening in Manipur to the Centre.
