On the occasion of the first foundation day anniversary of the proscribed PULF being headed by Umar Farooq, the outfit has distributed monetary assistance to orphan homes and some schools, informed its deputy secretary (organisation) Md Raheem Khan.
Umar Farooq was elected leader of the party during its general assembly held from March 2 to 4 last year.
Earlier, the party was being monopolised by a single family of two/three brothers.
Election of Umar Farooq was formally announced to the public on March 11 last year.
The party headed by Umar Farooq is celebrating its first anniversary for a week, Raheem Khan said.
With an objective to seek suggestions and knowledge from the public, the party organised feasts at different places in Bishnupur, Thoubal, Imphal East and Imphal West districts.
The feasts were attended by religious leaders, social workers and civil society leaders, the deputy secretary informed.
Maintaining that the party was able to implement its annual plan by about 50 percent, Raheem Khan disclosed that the indigenous peoples of the State provided unstinted cooperation to the party in its activities.
It was because of the people's cooperation that the party was able to realise its objectives.
Highlighting its plans and activities, PULF listed protection of underprivileged and weaker sections, efforts to ensure equal sharing and assistance to educational institutions being managed by NGOs and to protect the integrity of Manipur as its agenda of priority.
In connection with the first anniversary of the party, monetary assistance were provided to 20 schools being managed by NGOs during a simple function held at a place in Imphal East district today.
The outfit further appealed to the people to help in the struggle to liberate the land completely.
The outfit's chairman Umar Farooq, in a press statement, informed that congress of the party will be held from March 15. In connection with Congress, the chairman has asked all his cadres and senior officers not to undertake any activity from March 15. Warning that fitting actions will be initiated against any cadre defying the instruction, Umar appealed to the people to inform the party on telephone number 9436263480 in case any cadre is found defying the instruction.
