Imphal, February 10 2025: The Peoples' Action for National Democratic Movement (PANDM) has urged the authority of Central Agricultural University, Imphal to change the exam centre for recruitment to the posts of Assistant Registrar and Assistant Comptroller from Guwahati to Imphal.

Notably, CAU, Imphal notified that the recruitment exam will be held on February 23 at Guwahati, Assam.A press release issued by Brojen Meitei, secretary general, PANDM stated that over 3000 candidates have applied for CAU Imphal's recruitment exam for the posts of Assistant Registrar and Assistant Comptroller.

It went on to question why Guwahati was chosen as the exam centre when the campus of CAU is located at Imphal and a majority of the applicants are from Manipur.

PANDM further pointed out that the ongoing conflict has made road travel unfeasible so travelling by air is the only way for the candidates to appear for the recruitment exam.

At a time when the State's economic condition is extremely poor, such expenses will be impossible for many candidates and their parents to bear.

Appealing to CAU, Imphal authority to set the exam centre in Imphal, PANDM has cautioned that many student bodies and CSOs might launch intense forms of agitations otherwise.
