Imphal, January 01: Cadres of the auxiliary group of PLA, the armed wing of RPF pulled up an alleged informer yesterday.

The alleged informer who was paraded before mediapersons somewhere in Senapati district today has been identified as Thajonang Rongmei alias Tenison (29) s/o late Pathang of Dimthanlong ward no.III of Tamenglong district.

Talking to mediapersons at the occasion, a spokesperson of the department of communication and publicity of the outfit said during the course of interrogation, it has been established that Thajonang underwent basic military training after joining NSCN (I-M) in January 2004 under army no.16465.After completing the basic military training in April 2004, he worked at the training centre of the NSCN (I-M) located at Jelukai in Nagaland under the command of circle lieutenant (commander) of the centre identified as David Tangkhul.

After that in June 2005 with the permission of the senior officials of NSCN (I-M) he took leave and returned home to stay for sometime.

However, he joined NSCN (K) in January 2006 and started working under the camp commander of NSCN (K) identified as Soma, and later on assigned duty as town command under Jiri Town Commander Gandharei of NSCN (K).

But on December 19 of the same year, he surrendered to Camp Commander Major Navin of 22 Maratha Light Infantry located at Maibam Lokpa Ching along with one 9 mm pistol and nine live rounds of ammunition.

Apart from having given Rs 5000, Major Navin promised other benefits if he provided secret informations of other underground outfits and asked him to contact the mobile phone number 9436177758 if he got informations of the presence of underground cadres at any localities.

Acting on the instruction of Major Navin, Thajonang Rongmei used a mobile phone and two SIM cards and started looking for underground cadres living in an around Maibam Lokpa Ching.

But as he could not gather any information about the underground activists, Major Navin finally set him free saying that he could start earning his livelihood through extortion from public.

On getting wind of the activities of Thajonang Rongmei, members of the auxiliary group have been on his trail and he was finally arrested on January 9 at around 1 pm and brought to the camp, the spokesperson said.

Since he has confessed and admitted to his mistakes as well as given the assurance of not repeating such activities in future, he would be handed over to his family members.

However, he would not be pardoned if he was found acting as an informer of the Indian army, the spokesperson warned.
