Imphal, April 09 2025: A children home located at Sagolband Meino Leirak was fired upon by some unidentified persons at around 1.45 am yesterday.

Taking strong exception to the attack, local womenfolk including Meira Paibis staged a protest demonstration at the Meira Paibi shed of Nupi Yaipha Marup, Sagolband Meino Leirak today.

The protest demonstration was organised by the Apunba Meira Paibi Sagolband Meino Leirak.

Its president Maibam Purnima Leima said that unidentified persons fired around seven rounds at the children home where around 30 children are being taken care of.

CCTV footage showed an unidentified person putting his hand through the gate and opening fire inside the children home, Purnima said.

She then appealed to all concerned not to create fear psychosis among the children living in the home and the surrounding people by opening fire.

She further urged the assailants to come out with a clarification through media at the earliest.
