National Wildlife Week observed

The Biosphere Club under the aegis of the Department of Zoology, Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram, observed National Wildlife Week on October 6 and 7 with a series of awareness and educational programmes aimed at sensitising students towards the rich biodiversity and wildlife resources of the region.
The two-day programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Ht Decemson, Head, Department of Zoology with the active support of the teaching faculty.
The programme was organised in collaboration with the Department of Botany, Don Bosco College.
As part of the awareness programme, PowerPoint slides and video clips highlighting the diverse flora and fauna of Maram were presented in the college on October 6.The presentation focused on the importance of local biodiversity and the need for its appreciation, conservation and responsible protection.
On October 7, a programme was organised at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram Centre.
The two-hour programme included an informative PowerPoint presentation on local wildlife, followed by an exhibition and display of herbarium specimens and reptiles encountered in Maram and other parts of Manipur.
The sessions provided students an opportunity to learn about the wildlife resources found in their immediate surroundings and to understand the ecological significance of the plants and animals inhabiting the region.
The students were made aware of the importance of conserving local forests and their biological resources.
