UNLF's Armed Wing MPA Celebrates 26th B'day

Imphal, February 08 2013: On the occasion of the 26th raising day of the Manipur People's Army, UNLF's Military Affairs Committee (MAC) has greeted all the people of Manipur in addition to extending new year wishes.

MPA's unrelenting struggle for restoring the lost sovereignty against the Indian Government is made possible only because of the people's help and support, conveyed a statement issued by the UNLF MAC Acting Chairman Khundongbam Pambei.

For the last 26 years, MPA has been fighting against the Indian military in the course of which there were many ups and downs as well as setbacks.

Nevertheless, MPA has not wavered a bit from the responsibility assigned to them by the people and the UNLF.

Since the MPA is compelled to fight many more battles until freedom of the people is achieved, it is crucial to prepare MPA for the crucial battles.

Yet, the life-sustaining strength of the freedom struggle is drawn from the people of different indigenous communities who have been co-existing together.

When all the indigenous people stand on the side of the freedom movement, sovereignty can be achieved definitely, stated the Acting Chairman.

The revolution would be successful only when people realise the current situation characterised by critical dependency on India, as well as their wretched and cheap mode of survival.

Along with realisation of these, it is crucial for the mass to understand their responsibilities and duties as well as the direction to which they must march on.

For all these reasons, UNLF always believed in the united strength of the mass.

UNLF never overlook the fact that people form the strength and asset of the freedom movement, Pambei asserted.

Working sincerely for welfare of the people is the most fundamental foundation for unity amongst the people and revolutionary groups.

This principle implies that people are the origin as well as the destination of all activities of revolutionary groups.

The nature of the freedom movement is not necessarily determined by the revolutionary groups.

It is also shaped by the Government of India's policies and response to the movement.

The dual movement of armed struggle and non-violent mass movements against the alien regime again have a role in shaping India's nature and counter measures which are highly repressive, the MAC alleged.

UNLF has been waging unarmed and armed propaganda warfare as well as direct armed warfare against India for the national cause of freedom.

UNLF would soon figure out the basic necessities to train and make its cadres more qualified freedom fighters, and work out up to what extent and intensity the existing manpower, resources, weapons and freedom fighters can expedite the political struggle and military offensive.

It also mentioned about MPA's military actions undertaken last year including the attack against CRPF near Aishi village in Kamjong sub-division, Ukhrul district, attack against 28 Assam Rifles near Keishampat traffic point, attack against Assam Rifles at Kwatha Khunou, attack against Assam Rifles at Konthoujam in Imphal West and the attack against 143 CRPF on Porompat DC road.

The outfit also pleaded for forgiveness for the death of an innocent man during the Kwatha Khunou attack on September 29 as well as for the death of two innocent Tangkhul men near Konkan village in Ukhrul district on December 28 last year.

These incidents would go down in the history of UNLF-MPA and its freedom struggle as highly shocking and regrettable episodes.

On behalf of the MAC, Acting Chairman Pambei, while admitting their grievous mistakes, once again appealed to the public in general and the bereaved families in particular to forgive them.

He also advised all MPA cadres never to forget that their foremost duty is to protect lives of people.

It conveyed warm greetings to all leaders and cadres of fraternal revolutionary groups of Manipur and Western South East Asia.

It also paid tributes and further conveyed solidarity to all the freedom fighters who have laid down their precious lives in the course of the freedom movement as well as those civilians who lost their lives on account of the repressive measures unleashed by the Indian military.

The MAC then paid its respects to all the compatriots who have been maimed due to atrocities committed by the Indian military and those revolutionary cadres who are currently languishing in Indian prisons.
