Imphal, February 08:
At least aspiring candidates for the forthcoming MCS/MPS examination scheduled to be held this year under the Manipur Public Service Commission have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister to relax the upper age limit by five years.
In the memorandum, the aspiring candidates pointed out that examination to the Manipur civil service examination was held only twice in the last 15 years.
In the two examinations, the upper age limit for General candidates was put at 35, 38 for OBC and 40 for OBC.
In many other States, the upper age limit is still 35 years with admissible relaxations, said the memorandum and pointed out that it takes 4 to 5 years for one to complete a three year degree course in Manipur.
This means that by the time a student completes his or her PG course, he or she have attained the age of 26, said the memorandum and added that restricting the opportunity of getting Government jobs to those above 30 years would depirve a good many section of the people.
The aspiring candidates urged the Chief Minister to respond positively and appealed that the
same relaxation be applied in the last examination be followed.
