Campaign against drug abuse launched

Nationalists' Collective Manipur (NCM) launched a State-wide campaign against drug abuse at the Catholic School, Canchipur today.
Social Welfare Deputy Director L Dhaneshwar, NCM president Nongthom-bam Thoithoiba, Catholic School Principal Emannuel Kohli, All Manipur Recognised Private Schools Wel- fare Association president L Joy Khuman and User Manipur president Maibam Jogesh attended the launch of the campaign.
Speaking at the event, NCM president Nongthom-bam Thoithoiba said the campaign aims to save the younger generations and the State's future from the menace of drugs.
The campaign will lay special focus on young students and youths.
The aim is to secure their future and build a healthy society, Thoithoiba said.
The sheer number of seizures of drugs including alcohol in the State is a telling sign of the rampant nature of drug peddling and abuse, he added.
Facing the menace of drugs requires the collective efforts of all stakeholders, students, youths, parents, guardians, teachers, the larger society, civil bodies and the Government, he added, advising students to stay away from intoxicants and work hard on their respective fields.
