RBI extends loan repayment period

Bearing positive news for loanees of the State, Leader of the House N Biren Singh said today that Reserve Bank of India has extended loan repayment period till September 20, 2024 .
An official notice to this effect was issued by Anna Arambam, Director (Institutional Finance), Manipur later in the day.
Making the announcement in the State Assembly today, the Chief Minister said that the RBI has extended the timeline for implementation of relief measures including moratorium till September 20.The timeline for the extension of the above relief measures previously ended on March 20, 2024 .
The Chief Minister further informed the House that only 30% of loanees have applied for the relief measures and urged the remaining loan beneficiaries to submit their applications by September 20 to avail the relief measures granted by RBI.
Notably, the Chief Minister had recently requested the Union Finance Minister to persuade the RBI to extend the loan repayment period by a year.
Addressing the issue of pay hike for VDF personnel which was published in local newspapers and brought up in the Zero Hour of the Assembly recently, the Chief Minister said that in 2020 their monthly remuneration was increased from Rs 9,500 to Rs 10,500.They also receive a monthly supply of ration worth Rs 2000 and an annual increment of Rs 500 since 2020.Counting the annual increment since then, their monthly honorarium now stands at Rs 12,500, N Biren Singh informed the House.
The Chief Minister also announced an increment of Rs 500 ration money allowance for Manipur police personnel.
Notably, last year during the August 15 ceremony, an increment of Rs 1000 ration money for the Manipur police was announced.
An intimation to this effect was also sent to the Home Department.
However, in view of the poor economic condition of the State, the Chief Minister said that the amount was reduced to Rs 500.The increment will come into effect at the end of the ongoing Assembly session.
