Shops gutted

Three shops and a godown were gutted in an inferno destroying goods worth approximately Rs 57 lakh at Moijing Khongkok under Thoubal district around 12.30 am today.
The fire, which is believed to have been caused by an electric short circuit, burnt down a pharmacy, mobile repairing centre, wholesale grocery store and godown belonging to three brothers.
According to grocery store owner Md Yunush (27), s/o Md Islamuddin, the fire which erupted after midnight burnt medicines worth Rs 10 lakh in his elder brother Md Anish's (31) pharmacy, destroyed goods worth Rs 40 lakh in his wholesale grocery store and godown and items worth roughly Rs 5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh in cash in his younger brother Md Adrish's (24) mobile repairing centre.
Md Yunush has appealed to the State Government to take stock of the situation which has resulted in huge monetary losses for the three brothers.
He has also extended his gratitude to the fire service personnel for arriving on time and successfully dousing the flames thus stopping it from spreading to the adjacent houses.
