Imphal, May 07 2026:
The Sinakeithei Village Authority has strongly condemned the "unprovoked and cowardly attack" carried out by Kuki narco terrorists at Sinakeithei today which left a civilian critically wounded and further destabilized an already volatile region.
It has expressed deep indignation over the conduct of the Central Security Forces stationed in the nearby Tingpibung village and demanded immediate military intervention to remove hostiles from the region.
In a press release, Sinakeithei VA said around 12:30 pm Kuki narco terrorists positioned on the Lungter Hill Range unleashed a heavy spray of gunfire into the civilian settlement of Sinakeithei wherein a man sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and shoulder.
After a prolonged and perilous evacuation effort, the victim was transported to Ukhrul District Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Expressing discontent with the CSF who were stationed in the nearby village, the press release said despite having a Casspir permanently stationed on the Leplen-Tingpibung road-directly at the foothills of the Lungter Range and in a clear line of sight to the attackers - there was allegedly zero attempt to neutralize the assault or return fire.
The total failure of the CSF of Kangpokpi to intervene hints at a disturbing level of "passive complicity" .
By standing down while civilians are being shot at, these Forces have "effectively abdicated their constitutional duty", surmised the Sinakeithei VA .
It further asserted that for over two months, Sinakeithei has been involuntarily converted into a battleground by unrelenting Kuki onslaughts.
In view of such attacks, the VA had submitted repeated entreaties to both the State and Central Government demanding immediate dismantling of illegal bunkers and camps established by narco terrorists on the Lungter Hill Range as well as an Area Domination Operation (ADO) to remove hostiles from the hills.
Stating that their previous appeals only fell on deaf ears, the Sinakeithei VA has called for immediate military intervention to clear Lungter Hill Range and provide the residents of Sinakeithei the protection they are legally and humanely owed.
