Kamjong DC lines up joint meeting of Tangkhul, Kuki CSOs

Imphal, May 06 2026: In the midst of heightened tension and confrontations between the Tangkhul Nagas and Kukis, the Office of Deputy Commissioner, Kamjong district has convened a high-level public coordination meeting to address the ongoing tensions and strengthen coordination among stakeholders on May 7.According to an official notice issued by the district administration, the meeting will be held at 11.30 am at the Conference Hall of the District Mini Secretariat in Kamjong.

The initiative seeks to facilitate dialogue and enhance coordination among civil, security, and community leadership in the interest of peace and development.

Senior officials including the Superintendent of Police, Kamjong, and the Commanding Officer of 11 Assam Rifles, Chassad Post, have been invited, alongside key representatives of various tribal bodies.

The invitees include leaders from Tangkhul Naga Long, Tangkhul Shanao Long, Tangkhul Awunga Long, and several other Tangkhul organisations, as well as representatives from the Eastern Kuki Chiefs Association, Kuki Women Union, and Kuki Students' Organisation, among others.

Officials said the meeting is intended to provide a platform for dialogue among diverse stakeholders at a crucial juncture, amid rising concerns over law and order and inter-community relations in the district.
