Imphal, June 05 2025:
The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters, has submitted a representation to the Director and the Administrator of the Churachandpur Medical College (CMC), Churachandpur, urging them to comply with the Order dated March 5, 2025 regarding engagement of 38 non-teaching staff on daily wage basis in the college.
In the representation, the TYCM highlighted a notification dated May 12, 2025, issued by the CMC, inviting applications for a walk-in interview for the engagement of 38 nonteaching staff on a daily wage basis for a period of one year.
The TYCM mentioned that as per the notification, the prescribed daily wage rates were- Rs 273/day for Office Assistant; Rs 248/day for Laboratory Assistant/Dissection Assistant; Rs 225/day for Attendant, Caretaker and Sweeper.
"However, the Secretariat: Finance Department (Pay Implementation Cell), Government of Manipur, has already issued an Order dated March 5, 2025, published in the Manipur Gazette No 389 dated March 10, 2025, revising the minimum daily wages for non-scheduled employment as follows- Rs 400/day for Unskilled, Rs 440/day for Semi-skilled and Rs 480/day for Skilled", it added.
The TYCM stated that the wage rates mentioned in the Notification dated May 12, 2025 appear arbitrary and inconsistent with the revised minimum wages mandated by the Government of Manipur.
Stating that the discrepancy violates the rights of potential workers and is against established norms & orders, the TYCM urged the Director and the Administrator of CMC to review and rectify the wage rates mentioned in the notification to ensure full compliance with Order dated March 5, 2025 and uphold the principles of fairness and legal compliance in public employment.
