Imphal, June 05 2009: Tamei Headquarters Authority, Tamenglong district has expressed concern over the delay of various developmental works taken up in the sub-division including the irregularity and non-availability of sufficient medical facilities including doctors.

Calling on the State Government and the concerned authority to have a serious look into the matter, a press statement of the authority issued by its chairman, Ch Poujiang, stated that the 5-year plan 33 KV electricity line was way over its year plan with no work being done till date.

The line which was to be connected through Kangpokpi is still lying with no lines fixed.

The chairman also stated that though the water supply scheme under the non-lapsable Central pool of resource (NLCPR) has already been inaugurated, there is no water till date thus giving a hard time to the people of Tamei sub-division due to water scarcity.

Poujiang also stated that the condition of work on IT road under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) along Kangpokpi-Tamenglong via Tamei is just a 'polished' and not a real black topping.

Hence, it would last for only about a month or so, the chairman asserted.

Tamei Hqs Authority also said that nearly 50 percent of the total cost amount for the said work has been withdrawn by the concerned individuals despite the fact that quality has not been maintained.

The authority in this regard drew attention of Works Minister for immediate action and investigation into the condition of the work.

It also stated there was only one doctor in the sub-divisional PHC instead of the recommended three and lamented that this was giving hard time to the people.

Atleast 30 people died of malaria last year due to unavailability of required medicines, equipment and manpower, the statement added.

The Authority also asserted that there is no ambulance in the sub-division despite being sanctioned by the Government.

The authorities of the sub-division also alleged that no relief has come from the Government for the victims of the cyclone that hit the area recently.

It further informed that atleast 30 (thirty) houses were severely damaged in the cyclone leaving many homeless.
