Imphal, June 05:
A joint team comprising members of the United People's Administrative Council (UPAC), Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation and CADA Thoubal district committee inspected Kakching Community Health Centre today.
The inspection tour was made after obtaining details of the CHC by exercising the RTI Act.
The CHC was found lacking several infrastructure in a sorry state.
In addition to lack of the required doctors and specialists, the CHC building was also found worn out and whole complex was found quite messy and dirty.
The CHC was also not providing medicines it should give to patients.
Moreover, some staff were not attending office regularly.
Although the CHC has 20 beds, there was not adequate number of bed sheets.
Out of two freezers installed at the CHC for storing drugs, one was found out of order.
The generator set installed at the CHC was also of very small wattage.
Even as a roaster system was in practice in the CHC, it was found that each doctor did not attend the health centre more than three days in a week.
The building for post-partum programme centre inaugurated in 1992 had its ceiling plaster wearing out.
Syringes provided for immunisation were also found disabled thereby causing complicacies in suing them.
In most cases, the patients used to buy syringes for themselves.
According to the MO in-charge of the CHC, even though the Kakching CHC was not at par with the Indian public health standard, it is the best in the context of Manipur.

Jotin Waikhom of UPACO said that the similar inspection tours will also be made in other places of Thoubal district.
The three bodies will strive to bring those staff and officials neglecting their duties thereby denying health care facilities to the public to a legal platform for further corrective measures.
