Imphal, April 05: Conveying deep concern over the myriad problems face by the people, particularly the student community of the State, the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) is mulling over unification of all student bodies and to work unitedly in the common interest of the student community.

Briefing the media today at its head office, the newly elected president of MSF Rupachandra Chingsubam iterated that MSF would work towards unification of all student bodies of Manipur to tackle the major issues of the State unitedly.

Asserting that it's high time for all student organisations to come together, he declared that MSF would initiate necessary steps towards this end within a short time.

Regarding its ongoing academic campaign of Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamshi, Rupachandra informed that MSF would pursue the campaign with renewed vigour in far greater magnitude.

Under the campaign, MSF would make its best efforts to ensure the basic requirements of the students besides urging the authority concerned to provide the necessary infrastructure in all the private/Government schools and colleges, he conveyed.

While keeping a strict vigil against commercialisation of education, MSF would launch intense campaign to include education in the essential service sector, the president stated.

So far, MSF has distributed text books to 7049 poor students including 40 economically weak students of Chanam Sandrok who were provided free text books yesterday.

Taking part in the press meet, MSF secretary Thokchom Bomcha appealed to the State Govt to thwart any agitation by talking with agitating bodies amicably so that frequent disturbance to academic atmosphere due to bandhs/ strikes are effectively addressed.
