Grenade found planted

Imphal/Thoubal, October 04 2026:
A hand grenade was found planted at the residential gate of one Sharungbam Bimol at Yairipok Yambem Makha Leikai under Andro police station today.
According to reports, the grenade was disposed of by a bomb disposal squad at the foothills of Ngariyan at around 10 am.
Bimol is the proprietor of M/S H Rameshwar Sharma Saw Mill (Victoria Veneer Mill) .
The grenade was reportedly found inside a polythene bag along with a letterhead bearing the name of the KCP finance department.
Locals suspected that the grenade might have been planted last night.
The letterhead reportedly carried a warning addressed to Bimol.
Denouncing the bomb threat, locals staged a sit-in protest at Yairipok Yambem Makha Leikai.
The protesters held placards bearing slogans such as "We condemn bomb threats in densely populated areas", "Don't intimidate civilians" and "We want peace", among others.
Speaking to the media, one of the protesters stated that there could have been fatalities had the bomb exploded.
They urged all concerned to resolve misunderstandings, if any, through dialogue instead of resorting to violence.
