Two accused in Physics paper leak case arrested

Two accused involved in the case of leaking Higher Secondary Examination 2025 Physics question paper has been arrested by Cyber Crime Unit, Manipur Police.
The accused have been identified as Maibam Sunil Singh (33) of Nepra Company Makha Leikai, Thoubal district and Ningombam Jagdish Singh (33) of Thoubal Okram.
Maibam Sunil teaches Physics at Paradise English School, Thoubal while Jagdish is also a teacher at the same school.
Sunil is also designated as the AOC of the exam centre (Paradise English School) .
Moreover, he runs a private hostel.
Briefing media persons at Cyber Crime police station here this afternoon, Cyber Crime SP Ningombam John said that the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) Controller of Examination lodged a complaint at the Cyber Crime police station on Monday about leakage of Physics question paper of the ongoing Higher Secondary Examination.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Cyber Crime unit registered an FIR and immediately launched an investigation.
An investigation was swiftly initiated by the Officer-in-Charge, Cyber Crime PS under the Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime, Manipur, and many individuals were questioned to trace the trail of the leaked question paper.
Through diligent investigation, the individual responsible for leaking the question paper was traced and identified.
Maibam Sunil, the main accused, was arrested yesterday itself, John said.
On questioning Maibam Sunil, it was learnt that some other individuals were also involved in leaking the COHSEM question paper.
The Cyber Crime SP said that all the other accused have also been summoned.
Some of the accused are engaged in the ongoing Class XI exam and they have exam duties today.
The investigation will continue once they report at the Cyber Crime police station, the SP said.
He said that the investigation is at its initial stage but it will continue until all the individuals involved in the case are identified.
So far, questions papers of two subjects of the ongoing HSLC Exam and Higher Secondary Exam being conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM respectively have leaked, John noted.
He then appealed to all teachers, OCs, AOCs and SOs to see that no more questions are leaked in the interest of the student community.
Maibam Sunil was produced before a Duty Magistrate today and remanded to police custody for four days.
